The Asian Congress of Urology (ACU) is about to accomplish its quarter-century historical background. Commenced in 1990 in Fukuoka – Japan, this series of congresses have been hold every three years up to the third congress in Seoul – South Korea and then biennially until the 12th Asian Congress of Urology which is going to take place in Kish island - Iran in 2014. ACU has developed apparently during these years in terms of scientific program diversity, number of audiences, methods of presentations and also number of participants’ countries which can show the benefits this congress can provide for member and non-member colleagues. The 12th Asian Congress of urology will be convening on 5-9 December 2014 in Kish Island, a marvelous touristic island located in southern part of Iran, the Persian Gulf. The island is known as the Pearl of Persian Gulf referring to its unique atmosphere and facilities. The most prominent features will be the participation of world well known societies and associations in 12th ACU.

The theme of congress is:" A Novel Taste of Global Science Through an Asian Window." There will be joint session of Urological Association of Asia alongside IUA and Société Internationale d'Urologie, European Association of Urology, American Urological Association, International Continence Society of Urology, International Young Urological Association, and European Society for Sexual Medicine.

According to ACU Chairman's welcome message, "Over the past 20 years, ACU has witnessed a great deal of encouraging progress as well as the phenomenal scientific congresses. Iran has the honor of hosting 2014, the last congress of the series which have been held every other year in one of the Asian countries. Since 2015, it is going to be organized annually. The Iranian Urological Association with the support of broad scientific relation to EAU, SIU, UAA, AUA, AUU and the other Asian and Regional countries, with its previous experiences of hosting shared scientific congresses, provides a good common scientific grounding to hold a high-level meeting which caters for all the participants’ taste and interest in the 12th ACU."
