SBMU Cancer Research Center hosts the 12th Int’l Breast Cancer Congress on 22-24 February 2017 in Tehran.
According to WHO, cancer is one of the leading causes of
morbidity and mortality worldwide, with approximately 14 million new cases in
2012 and 8.8 million deaths in 2015. Globally, nearly 1 in 6 deaths is due to
cancer
Cancer is considered as the third cause of death in
Iran accounting for 30,000 deaths annually due to National Cancer Research Network
(NCRN) and Health Deputy Minister. According to Iranian Ministry of Health, ASR
for Iranian male and female are 134 and 128 per 100/000 respectively.
To tackle cancer and raise public awareness, cancer research
centers were established within Iranian medical universities. According to
NCRN, there are 26 active cancer research centers nationwide.
Cancer Research Center of Shahid Beheshti University of
Medical Sciences (SBMU CRC) was officially founded in 2006 to execute extensive
cancer research with active collaboration of as many as academicians and
scholars.
According to WHO, breast cancer is the 5th most fatal types
of cancer in the world.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among Iranian woman
and each year there are approximately 10,000 new cases of breast cancer in Iran
due to NCRN Secretary.
The 12th International Breast Cancer Congress will be held
by SBMU CRC on 22-24 February 2017 in Tehran. There is an active cooperation
between congress organizing committee and prominent International organizations
in the field of cancer and breast diseases including European Asian Society for
Breast Diseases, International Society of Intraoperative Radiation Therapy and
European Institute of Oncology. Iranian and International speakers will gather
to discuss the latest advances in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the breast
cancer.
