On the occasion of National Doctor’s
Day, Iranian
Medical Council awarded renowned and distinguished doctors for their
outstanding contributions to medical science over a period of a half-century in
a ceremony attended by hundreds of doctors and their families.
The
date of 23th August (the birthday of Avicenna) was chosen to celebrate Doctor's
Day in Iran.
National
Doctor's Day provides an opportunity to recognize physicians throughout the
country for their tireless & persistent commitment to providing excellent
patient care.
This
special day is observed nationwide to appreciate the ones who have chosen this
profession and to honor their concernment & significance in the day-to-day
lives of everyone.
IRIMC
as the nation's largest organization in the field of medicine continues to be a
leader in shaping the future of health care and is working to ensure the best
outcomes for patients and physicians.
Dr.
Zali highly appreciated national doctors’ dedication, innovation, and sacrifice
as well as their high-quality services to patients and said:” National Doctor’s
Day is a time to appreciate and celebrate hard work and dedications of doctors
who devoted their lives to save lives and heal patients.”
“Despite
of sanctions faced our nation, not only maintained our health system in a
standard level but also many scientific & outstanding achievements have
taken placed in this domain. Nowadays, thanks to our healthcare professionals,
there is no need to send patients abroad for operation and medical treatment.
On the other hand the high standards of practicing medicine in our country have
made us the center of health tourism in our region. Iran has made great strides
in the field of stem cell technology and achieved significant advances in this
medical discipline which has made us the prominent country in our
region."IRIMC president remarked.
“According
to world medical malpractice statistics, approved malpractice claims in Iran
are lower than the rest of the world; however a distinction must be made
between medical malpractice and an untoward result occurring in the course of
medical care and treatment that is not the fault of the physician. That’s
highly important to well inform the public about it.” He added.
IRIMC
president underscored the key role of health care professionals during the 8
years of Iran Iraq war and appreciated their dedication for serving the public
and added:
“Despite the fact that in the war zone, medical supplies are scarce, hospitals
are marked as targets, and there are many life threatening conditions, Iranian
doctors and nurses provided urgent medical care to victims of war by devoting
their lives."
