 World Food Programme holds an art exhibition in Tehran
On the occasion of World Food Day 2014, WFP Iran holds an art exhibition of over 100 donated artworks of Iranian masters and emerging artists. Exhibition will be open to public through Saturday 18 October to Friday 24 October form...

The world Food Programme (WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide, delivering food in emergencies and working with communities to build resilience. In 2013, WFP assisted more than 80 million people in 75 countries. WFP Iran support the Government of Iran in emergency operations, when required, providing logistics services and food assistance upon request. An example of which would be WFP intervention in the Bam earthquake of 26 December 2003. This emergency intervention was followed by a 3 month operation providing food aid to 100,000 most vulnerable living in tents until the reconstruction of their homes were completed.

 

WFP Iran holds an art exhibition of over 100 donated artworks of Iranian masters and emerging artists. Exhibition will be open to public through Saturday 18 October to Friday 24 October form 10:00 to 19:00 in Tehran at Niavaran Cultural center. Praviz Tanavoli, Parviz Kalantari, Mahmoud Farshchian, Gizella Varga Sinai and Fakhreddin Fakhreddini are among the artists which their artworks will be presented in the exhibition. The money raised from selling the artworks will be allocated to WFP projects in Iran.

WFP Iran Representative, Negar Gerami said: "The main purpose of organizing cultural events is to reach out to the public, raise awareness on hunger issues and sensitize communities about the global "Fight Against Hunger". Of course the proceeds from these events will benefit our projects and enable us to provide better support to the people in need. We believe Iranian artists are very engaged in global issues and can play an active role in supporting us on the humanitarian front. We are extremely happy to have them at our side."

 IRIMC official bodies have been officially invited to the opening ceremony of WFP art exhibition.
