WONCA 2017 Family Medicine Congresses
The 4th East Mediterranean and 22nd European editions of Wonca Family Medicine Congresses will be held on March and June-July respectively.

 

WONCA is an unusual, yet convenient acronym comprising the first five initials of the World Organization of National Colleges, Academies and Academic Associations of General Practitioners/Family Physicians. WONCA's short name is World Organization of Family Doctors.

The World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA) is a not-for-profit organization and was founded in 1972 by member organizations in 18 countries. WONCA now has 118 Member Organizations in 131 countries and territories with membership of about 500,000 family doctors and more than 90 per cent of the world’s population. The Mission of WONCA is to improve the quality of life of the peoples of the world through defining and promoting its values, including respect for universal human rights and including gender equity, and by fostering high standards of care in general practice/family medicine

 

 

The fourth edition of World Organization of Family Doctors / East Mediterranean Region (WONCA EMR) Congress for Family Medicine will be held on 2 – 4 March 2017 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The current Wonca EMR member organizations are the following: I.R Iran, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Morocco, and Afghanistan.

Each year Wonca EMR congress strives to bring an enhanced and more enriching scientific program for its attendees as well as covering topics of significant importance to Family Medicine and Primary Healthcare professionals emphasizing issues specific to East Mediterranean Region.

Wonca EMR provides a platform for networking with not only regional but international experts. Wonca EMR 2016 delegates represented 33 countries from around the globe. The upcoming congress also boosts a huge number of abstracts that are presented in oral, poster and workshop formats. The congress theme is “Family Medicine: breakthrough to excellence”.

The General Practice Society of Czech hosts the 22nd WONCA Europe Conference, which will be held on 28 June- 1 July 2017 in Prague. WONCA Europe conferences have become the most influential events for general practitioners from Europe and elsewhere contributing to global awareness of the latest clinical primary care strategies and to the development of professional issues.

The theme of conference is “Growing together in Diversity “which underscores the importance of collaboration and share of skills and knowledge among family doctors from across the medical and political spectrum to make the upcoming congress an ideal place for perfecting clinical skills, enhancing the success of medical practice and promoting healthcare.

Situated in the north-west of the country on the Vltava River, Prague, in Czech – Praha, is the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic and fourteenth-largest city in the European Union. Nicknamed “The City of a Hundred Spires” and “The Golden City”, Prague is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
