Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) is an intergovernmental organization which its motto is:"Sustainable socio-economic development for people of the region."

ECO initially established as Regional Cooperation for Development (RCD) in 1964 by Iran, Pakistan and Turkey to allow socio-economic development of the member states. In 1979, it ended activities and was replaced by Economic Cooperation Organization in 1985. In the fall of 1992, the ECO expanded to include seven new members. 28 November is the ECO Day in which the organization expanded to its present strength. 28 November 2014 will be 22nd anniversary of ECO expansion. Funding of ECO rely on members financial contributions and its official language is English. H.E. Ambassador Shamil Aleskerov is the Secretary-General of ECO.

The 2nd ECO Health Ministerial Meeting will be hosted by the Islamic Republic of Iran on 27 November 2014 in Tehran. The Ministerial Meeting will be preceded by the Senior Officials Meeting on 26 November 2014.  The inaugural message of Dr. Hashemi, Iranian Minister of Health and Chair of the coming meeting is:"Together we will improve health in the ECO region, let's unite for health."

The Ministerial Meeting will review activities of the Member States with regard to health promotion in the ECO Region and adopt ECO Health Action Plan for 2015-2020.

The 3rd Meeting of the "ECO High Level Experts Group Meeting (HLEG) on Human Development and Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) as well as Post MDGs era" will be hosted by the Islamic Republic of Iran on 24-25 November 2014 in Tehran.

This Meeting will be an opportunity for ECO Member States to discuss the progress and challenges facing MDG goals (reduce child mortality, improve maternal health and combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases) as the priority areas and focus of ECO activities. The Member States will also set the future course of action in the post MDGs era.
