IRI Medical Council paid tribute to Dr. Mohsen Hashemi, a veteran physiotherapist and the founder of modern physiotherapy in Iran because of his consistent efforts regarding promoting the science of physiotherapy in our country.
Physiotherapy
or physical therapy is a profession that remediates impairments and helps
restore movement and function when an individual is affected by injury, illness
or disability.
Physiotherapists
mainly deal with musculoskeletal problems and are an active part of a
multi-disciplinary medical team.
The
earliest documented origins of physiotherapy in Iran as a professional group
date back to approximately 50 years ago when Iranian Association of
Physiotherapy established.
In
a ceremony held by IRI Medical Council earlier this month, Dr. Mohsen Hashemi,
a veteran and distinguished Iranian physiotherapist was awarded honorary
doctorate degree from a European University because of his consistent efforts
regarding promoting the science of physiotherapy in our country.
Present
at the launch were: Dr. Shokouhi, the elected member of IRIMC Supreme Council,
the IRIMC Director-General of Public Affairs, the Head of Iranian Society of Anesthesiology
and Critical care and member colleagues from Iranian Association of physiotherapy.
