It is my great pleasure to deliver speech on the auspicious occasion of the first ICOI Congress in Iran. On behalf of Iranian Medical Council which is the voice of all Iranian healthcare professionals, I would like to welcome Dr. Kenneth Judy, an internationally acclaimed professor in implant dentistry and ICOI Co-Chairman as well as renowned scholars in the field of oral Implantology.I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of ICOI Congress organizing committee members as well as other distinguished dental professionals for their consistent efforts to bring together a stellar lineup of speakers to this congress.Furthermore, I highly appreciate Iranian renewed dental professionals' efforts for considerably prompting implant dentistry in our country and I congratulate recognising of Iranian Centre of Oral Implantology as 8th ICOI Component Society in the world. Undoubtedly, this is a giant leap for Iranian dental community that will considerably enhance implant education nationwide by offering certified and comprehensive academic implant education presented by renowned national as well as international faculty.Medical Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRIMC) is the nation's largest independent and Non-Governmental organisation in the field of medicine.
Founded in 1964, Iranian Medical Council is responsible for licensing, authorisation, and registration of all health care professionals (except nurses) to practice in Iran as well as advocacy for health care professionals' and patients' right.
All Iranian medical, dental and pharmaceutical associations are affiliated to IRIMC and it regulates bi or multilateral collaborations between health care professionals and other associations and organisations nationwide.IRIMC strives to achieve the highest possible standards of healthcare practice through holding continued medical & dental educational programs and active cooperation with national scientific medical and dental associations.
When I took office in May 2013 with the vote of Iranian health care professionals, the idea of global partnership for health enshrined in my objectives and schemes for the 9th term of IRIMC presidency.It can be described as active International collaboration with certified medical, dental and pharmaceutical associations as well as councils which includes interchange of academic & scientific information between Iranian health care professionals and their counterparts around the globe.
The outcome flourishes the national academic ambience and will lead to improved and sustainable health care which is in accordance with UN 2015 Millennium Development Goals and the main objectives of IRIMC Constitutions and ByLaws.
Founded in Paris in 1972, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI) is an interactive society open to all dental professionals which aims at ensuring the global advancement of implant dentistry with over 25,000 ICOI members in more than 100 countries. ICOI leaders cut across political issues in favour of promoting the science of implant dentistry and improving people's lives, which is in line with IRIMC objectives and spirit of global health partnership.
As the advocate of Iranian healthcare professionals including dentists and as the guardian of patients' rights, IRIMC strives to provide the highest ethical based standards in patients care through providing the profession with continuing academic education, advancing the science and art of dentistry and promoting the research.In 1952, the discovery of osseointegration by Prof. Brånemark, considered as the father of modern dental Implantology, revolutionized the realm of implant dentistry.
The implant technology significantly revolutionized dental profession and commenced a new era in the field of dentistry in which titanium implants -while performed under controlled conditions-can restore the function and aesthetics of the oral cavity with a very high degree of predictability. Iranian Medical Council aims to ensure that dental practice in the field of implant dentistry is in highest possible standards and thoroughly in accordance with code of ethics and good dental practice. We reach to a cooperation and affiliation agreement with ICOI that will be a milestone in the field of dentistry through which we will recognise ICOI component society in Iran as a legitimate provider of implant education. However we thoroughly supervise ICOI Credentialing levels recipients through IRIMC Professional Competence Commission for Implant Dentistry. The ICOI Credentialing Levels recipients with 3 records of malpractice in implant dentistry announced by IRIMC Professional Competence Commission for Implant Dentistry would be subjected to rescinding ICOI Credentials.I am the idea through active cooperation with ICOI, as an internationally acclaimed provider of implant education and active role of IRIMC as the supervisory authority, we can bring the highest possible standards of implant dentistry to our nation.
