As the 36th International Dental Show (IDS) opened today at the Koelnmesse Exhibition Centre in Cologne, the city became the centre of world dental community again.
IDS
is a biennial international dental exhibition that takes place in Cologne and
is organized by the GFDI Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Dental-Industrie mbH,
the commercial enterprise of the Association of German Dental Manufacturers
(VDDI).
In
2013, IDS hosted 2058 exhibitors from 56 countries and more than 125,000
visitors from 149 countries.
In
an interview with Koelnmesse Chief Operating Officer Katharina C. Hamma done by
Dental Tribune Online, she revealed that they were expecting more than 2200
companies from 56 countries and over 125,000 dental professionals at the event.
She
mentioned that the event will encompass the whole spectrum of the dental
industry while IDS 2015 features 2 new programs:
-Career
Day intended to bring together the dental industry and young dentists; and
-Know-How Tours intended to allow visitors,
particularly those from outside Europe, to visit two representative dental
practices in Cologne on three nights during the show. There, they will have the
opportunity to exchange knowledge with fellow colleagues and experience innovations
and technologies already standard in German dentistry for use in their own
practice.
Dr
Markus Heibach, Executive Director of the Association of German Dental
Manufacturers, one of the organizers of IDS announced that Orthodontics is
central topic in IDS 2015 and will give special attention to digital and
technical innovations in this field.
The
Theme of IDS is digitalization although what will be offered in IDS is not
limited to digital solutions. Further developments of traditional dental product
such as filling materials, endodontic file systems and surgical instruments
will be included in the event.
